OUR MISSION

P1000537

The mission of TLFP is to advance the instruction of computers and technology education to K-12 students in challenging 3rd world communities via the introduction of a comprehensive computer-based educational curriculum delivered via STEM-PBL based methodologies.

TLFP strives to do this thru partnering with existing schools in these communities to implement a robust and effective computer-based educational curriculum that relies on proven STEM-PBL methodologies at their school, taught by trained instructors tasked with developing creative instructional content that will bring out the capabilities and talents of each individual student participating in the program.

Through the introduction of locally generated, STEM-PBL based, technology focused educational content into these schools, especially into schools that normally would not have the capability, infrastructure, staff or know-how to run such a computer-based educational curriculum at their learning institution, we aim to bring about generational change to the youth in these communities, reducing the effects of poverty and ignorance.

PARTNERING WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS...

TLFP seeks to change the computer literacy landscape by partnering with existing schools in the regions and countries it operates in. Our approach to technology education is centered on effective partnerships that arise out f our desire to change the landscape of computer education literacy and the desire of existing schools to have such programs and opportunities in their institutions. Our job is the technology and the education. The job of our partnering schools is providing an environment within which their students can benefit from our expertise and blossom to their full potential.

OUR APPROACH...

Our approach to the field of computer education is twofold: We strive to employ the STEM style of instruction in the schools we partner with, being that this methodology has been proven to be a better form of instruction for the student by a wide margin. Popular software titles such as Microsoft Office, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and a host of other software titles that have a direct impact on the ability for students to immediately become relevant to the job place of today, are taught via the programs we have running at each school. Since all schools aren't the same, we employ a basic model that can be tailored to each school's needs as they see fit.

THE PLATFORM...

The hardware we base almost all of our efforts on is the laptop, because of its versatility in the environments we operate in. Desktops may be a lot faster and may run more programs all at the same time but would require a more carefully planned environment where power and other environmental factors would be critical to a long-term solution for a computer lab. We chose the laptop to deploy our instructional curriculum on because it is mobile, has most of its accessories already attached or built in, would run past a power outage (frequent in our environments) and can be quickly moved around and deployed at a school to begin instruction in a relatively short time. compared to desktop computers.

OUR EDUCATORS...

The teacher is one of the most important aspects of how we execute our mission and are central to the effective implementation of our programs in our partnering schools. Teacher training and continuing education for instructors are a mandatory aspect of the position they hold in the classroom. We believe that there should be a continual effort to advance the education and training of our teaching staff, which is why we've developed an effective teacher's training curricula that's approved by the governing authorities in each of the regions we work in. We strive to surpass the approved standards and qualifications in these regions in order to give our beneficiaries (the students themselves) the best experience possible.

RECOGNITION AND PARTICIPATION...

Part of our mission is to hold yearly programs where outstanding performers and notable exceptions are given the opportunity to showcase their talent. Competitions for the most original or creative solution to a particular problem presented during class sessions will be held amongst all partnering schools. This would serve to bring invigorate interest and engagement in the field and serve to draw students into a field they never thought they would excel at, giving them that opportunity of a lifetime.

COLLABORATION...

We also seek to collaborate and form strategic partnerships with other similarly aligned organizations that have the overall goal of bringing a first class educational experience to the less fortunate in our communities. Whoever you are, we'd like to talk to you about how we can work together to change the lives of these young people for the better. There's a lot to do and we'd love to work with you.
